Purple Bear Stained Glass Studio was founded by Ellen Higgerson. I recently retired from a wonderful career at Children's Hospital Colorado where I was a Program Manager/Sr. Project Manager in the IT department. I've been actively involved in creating Stained Glass for forty years and wanted to expand my love for all things Stained Glass and teach others how to create beautiful objects. I started my career long ago as a teacher in the public schools and enjoy helping others learn and create. Teaching stained glass classes brings together two things I love to do.
I love Stained Glass because I love color. I love the different textures of the glass. I love the emotions that stained glass can evoke. For hundreds of years, glass has been used in cathedrals and other holy places to evoke a feeling and tell a story.
I'm the one one the right. This piece is called Jerri's Gift. Jerri is on the left and commissioned this for a wedding gift for her daughter. We entered it into the annual Denver Botanic Gardens Glass At the Gardens event. Jerri's Gift was awarded First Place in the Adapted General Category. I can make a beautiful and meaningful creation just for you!
